There are plenty of dangers of big government, of course, but what few people talk about is the sheer arbitrariness of it. You go along, living your life, not bothering anybody. Then, you either deliberately or accidentally make the wrong person mad at you, or you just happen to become the target of someone trying to justify their job, and all of a sudden you're in violation of sixteen laws you never knew existed, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it.
