It's not because Republicans are rich--this is as a percentage of income, not an absolute dollar amount. It's just a fact that people living in Republican states give more to charity than people living in Democrat states.
Of course, Democrats would claim their more charitable than Republicans. It's just that they like to give away other people's money, not their own.
