There's playing it safe, and then there's living in fear. When the President refuses to do an interview with Chris Matthews, who couldn't be more of an Obama supporter if he was on the President's payroll, that's fear. He's afraid to say or do anything unless he can completely control how it comes out, for fear he'll say or do something wrong.
Remember when we were told what a great orator President Obama was? Now, he won't even say hello unless he gets to approve how the news clip looks.
