Republicans waste too much time going to hostile media programs where they won't get a fair chance. The arguments for it are that they need to reach people who don't agree with them and that the media is still the only game in town. That used to be true, but no more. People who don't agree with them aren't going to be swayed by seeing them slammed by slanted coverage, and there are plenty of other ways to get the message out these days.
In fact, I'd like to see Brown go farther and refuse to be part of the debate unless the Kennedys are out of it entirely. I wouldn't accept Tom Brokaw as a neutral moderator, either. On the other hand, it is Massachusetts.
