Good Intentions

I'm not blaming President Obama for not fixing the problems in Haiti.  I'm not blaming anyone for the problems in Haiti.  People have given millions and millions of dollars, and spent thousands and thousands of hours, and nothing has changed.  I'm not faulting the effort, but the only way things are ever going to change is if the people of Haiti decide to make them change.

That sounds harsher than I mean it to sound.  I'm not saying it's as easy as saying the words, or that it's easy at all.  It's darned hard.  But it's still the only way it's ever going to happen.  We can't "rebuild" something that was never built in the first place.

U. S. Pledge to Rebuild Haiti Not Being Met
